School Closure from 3.10pm on Thursday 19th March
As you will be aware, we have taken the difficult decision to close school from 3.10pm on Thursday 19th March so children can come in tomorrow as long as they have no symptoms and nobody in the household is self-isolating.
Please be assured that this has not been taken lightly but based on evidence of the potential impact on vulnerable children and adults in terms of medical conditions and the risk this virus places on them in the context of the changing national picture. As always, the health and safety of our school community is of utmost importance.
We are very conscious that we do not want you to feel abandoned by us, so we will make every effort to call once a week, to chat with you as parents and also with your son or daughter, just to touch base. We will be sending home packs of information and ideas about activities to do with your children whilst they are at home.
We also appreciate that your child not being in school adds a financial burden and so for those of you whose child eats a free school meal, we will provide you with a weekly supermarket gift card to help you manage this extra cost. This will be reviewed at Easter.
Many of our children and young people use a range of physio equipment in school and work is underway with Sara, the physiotherapist, to support you in using this at home if required.
We do not know when we will be able to reopen school but will review the situation frequently.
When anything changes, we will inform you by text or on social media (Facebook and Twitter) or via the website. Please ensure we have up to date contact details.
I’m sure you will appreciate that this is all very fast moving and we will provide further information tomorrow.
Kind Regards
Janis French
