Priory Woods School & Arts College A Special Place to Learn

Enterprise

Post 16 has embedded enterprise throughout its curriculum, meaning that most students have an enterprise session at least once a week. This is supported by a specialist Teaching Assistant in a specialist classroom. It provides our students with meaningful and rich work experience opportunities, at a level appropriate for each individual.

Students are given the opportunity to set up and run their own company. They are encouraged to be enterprising and innovative in all aspects of running their company. Students are given the opportunity to show leadership, management, teamwork and communication skills. They will develop skills for enterprise such as problem solving, decision making, open-mindedness, risk assessment, innovation and commitment. As well as gaining experience of budgeting, buying and selling, customer service and financial management, bespoke to individuals.

Students are also involved in planning and running many School fairs and events. Our explore students also participate in Staff lunches, another excellent opportunity to develop maths, English and enterprise skills further.

Through our very own Facebook page we sell our products to the public and send them all over the country. Students are encouraged to get involved in every step of the process, including designing, completing orders, and often speaking directly to the customers.

All the profits made by the students get reinvested back into equipment and resources. It also funds the annual prom and every student takes home a wage at the end of the year.
