School Update
Dear Families,
I am contacting you to inform you that following discussion with the LA and our Governing Board, the decision has been made to close school on Friday 16th July and move to remote learning for the remaining two days of the term.
We have also made the difficult decision to cancel the Summer School. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am about this. It was planned to give pupils bespoke opportunities in the arts and in sport to help make up for some of the things we have missed this year.
However, the health, safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff are, as always, at the forefront of decisions made. This week, we have been hit with a large number of pupils and staff having to isolate. We have had to manage without other staff because they are isolating, have COVID, or have to care for a child who has to isolate because they have had contact with a confirmed case. We’ve had problems when even the supply staff are isolating; this has left us in a position when staffing levels are becoming unsafe.
Locally, numbers of infections are rising and this will lead to increasing isolations. We do not want your children or our staff to have to miss out on holiday time which has to be spent at home, and most importantly, we do not want anyone to catch it either.
Let’s hope things settle soon so that next year can be without having to make these difficult and unwanted decisions.
Kind regards,
Janis
