Autumn Term 1
G7 have loved getting to know each other at the start of September and new friendships are blossoming. We’ve started our topic, ‘My Family,’ so have had the opportunity to look at our family photos sent in from home. We’ve shared the story The Invisible String and enjoyed reading it as sensory story. We’ve enjoyed our therapy sessions in the hydrotherapy pool and rebound therapy on the trampoline, as well as our weekly TAC PAC sessions, where our communication skills are increasing daily, as we share our choices and personalities with staff. We’ve enjoyed opportunities to get out and about on the school bus and visit local parks and Cherry Hill Garden Centre for their Halloween Sensory Walk…it was very scary!
Autumn 2
G7 are loving our new topic, Winter Wonderland. We’ve been sharing stories about winter animals and finding out about penguins, polar bears, seals and other animals from the colder regions. We are starting to think about Christmas and have made a Winter Wonderland Sensory Tent where we can share stories or explore the sensory lights and enjoy watching our new bubble tube, which has fish that swim inside it. We are looking forward to our Christingle at the local church, school performances and our annual trip to see Cherry Hill Garden Centre’s Sensory Christmas Walk as our end of half term excursion. Some of our students have been using Eye gaze equipment to play games and switch toys to explore cause and effect. We’ve also began Jabadao sessions this half term which have been a hot with our students.
