Last week some of the students from G1 went on a trip to find out more about life as a commercial fisherman on our North East coast as part of their 'Under the sea' topic. We met with James who kindly showed us his boat and talked us through some of the important equipment they use. He even let one of our students try on the kit for a day at sea. All the students wrote interesting questions to find out more such as 'How do you navigate the sea?' and 'What skills do you need to become a fisherman'. Needless to say, we all learnt a lot about lobster fishing and a career at sea! We were then able to apply this to our project when we got back to school!
